INJURY PREVENTION AND REHABILITATION

The CrankIt Straps are proving to be excellent for injury prevention, and rehabilitation. Here's how:

Most Suspended Fitness exercises are closed kinetic chain – the body moves, while the hands/feet stay still. Close Kinetic Chain exercises increase the use of stabilisers, and push joint surfaces together, while open kinetic chain exercises typically pull joint surfaces apart. This makes closed kinetic chain exercises the preferred choice for early stage rehabilitation, as the unstable and often painful joints tolerate being pushed together rather than pulled apart.

Closed kinetic chain exercise also often result in higher core activation. Interestingly, being very strong in an open kinetic chain movement does not always transfer to the similar movement pattern in closed kinetic chain.

Exercising on the CrankIt Straps also increases joint stability, because the training surface (the strap handles) are unstable, thus requiring muscle and joint stability from the exerciser to be able to perform the movement. This helps with injury prevention because having strong and stable joints, and muscles that support those joints results in reduced chance of injury.

Core Strength

Our core is the centre for all of our movement, and is critical to our movement function. It’s commonly accepted that we must have a strong core in order to be able to excel in the majority of athletic activities. We also need to have a strong core to safely perform our regular daily activities and movements.

The way exercises are performed using CrankIt Straps results in unmatched core activation by destabilizing your position and moves the centre of gravity outside the base, which causes your body to automatically compensate by using your core muscles (this is known as constant core activation).

So for example, when you perform an exercise in a leaning position, this demands pelvic and spinal stabilisation during the entire exercise. This causes your core muscles to activate in order to keep your body in the correct position, and avoid “sagging”. This can be applied to exercises that would not usually target or activate the core, resulting in even more core activation during more exercises – and even better results!
